Welcome to the Liminal Mall

Maya Chen knows the Ridgewood Galleria like the back of her hand. Today it's quieter than usual. Then quieter than possible. The shoppers disappear. The hallways stretch. Stores she's never seen appear between stores she knows. The exits are still there — she can see the parking lot through the glass — but the doors open onto more mall. The building is getting bigger, and Maya's attention is feeding it. To escape, she has to stop paying attention to a place that keeps demanding she look.
